Igho Ogbu has described his time at Lillestrom as “a fantastic journey”, while the Norwegian club disclosed the central defender is now the biggest outgoing transfer they have made after he signed for Czech champions Slavia Praha.
The Norwegian club described the transfer as “historical” with various reports suggesting that it is in the region of 2 Million Euros.
On Friday, Ogbu signed a contract with Slavia Praha till 2026 to cool off interest from across Europe.
The 22-year-old defender, who has been capped by both the Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles, said he enjoyed his two years at the Oslo club because of the support of the fans.
“Lillestrøm have been such a big part of my life, and I know how much I will miss the club,” he said.
“The support from Kanarifansen (the fans) has been fantastic and inspiring, and it is something I will cherish for the rest of my life.
“It has been an absolute privilege to represent LSK and I have loved every minute of playing for the best supporters in the world.”
He added: “It has been a fantastic journey. There have been some glorious highs and some crushing lows, but throughout the journey the fans have given me amazing support and I will never forget that.
“I have been very lucky to play with some incredible players and for some coaches who have all helped me to improve and develop further.
“I am proud of all that we have sacrificed and worked very hard for a long time.
“But in addition to all this, I believe the time has come to open a new chapter with me moving to Slavia Praha and looking forward to embarking on a new challenge.
“I will keep all the memories from Lillestrøm in my heart forever!”
