Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has reckoned Joe Aribo should knuckle down and show his loyalty to Rangers by staying at Ibrox for at least another season and not give in to transfer interests from the Premier League.
Aribo has been one of their key men this season, particularly since Gio van Bronckhorst ‘s arrival.
He’s benefited from a more advanced role but his good form has caught the eye in England with a number of Premier League clubs reportedly considering an approach.
He is out of contract in 2023 and that only adds to the anxiety that he could force an exit.
“Rangers will be desperate to keep him. They’ve been good for Joe Aribo,” he said.
“It wasn’t that long ago he was playing non-league. Rangers have given him a chance.”
But Ibrox hero Ferguson, speaking on Go Radio, has now said he reckons Aribo should show his loyalty to the club who have given him the platform to take his career to the next level.
“I’d like to see him stay another season and a bit and go on to become even better than he is,” he said.
“The fee that they paid was only about £300,000. An absolute snip.
“When he first came up you could see signs that there was a player in there.
“I like when he plays central, with Aribo and Arfield bombing on it suits Rangers perfectly.
“He’s playing some brilliant stuff and scoring some great goals.”
