Cyril Dessers, who has been named in the Super Eagles final squad for forthcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, is now to join top Greek club Panathinaikos.
The departure was confirmed by Rangers manager Russell Martin, who stated that Dessers is leaving to fill Fotis Ioannidis’s position at Panathinaikos.
The 30-year-old striker played his last match for Rangers against Celtic this weekend and is now preparing to move to Greece.
Dessers appeared emotional after the match and was seen bidding farewell to the fans, indicating his departure.
Dessers was a member of the Rangers team that recently knocked Panathinaikos out of the Champions League.
It is understood that AEK Athens had previously reached an agreement on a £30,000-a-week contract with Dessers, but their £4.5 million offer was turned down by Rangers, who are maintaining their valuation of the player.
