SCORENigeria chats up Super Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby ahead of the World Cup in France next month.

The interview –

SCORENIGERIA: Coach, good day, how are you today?

DENNERBY: I’m feeling fine and excited as well.

SCORENIGERIA: Coach Dennerby you just recently won the WAFU Nations Cup after you failed to do so last year as the Super Falcons crashed out in the semi-finals. How did you see the victory in Abidjan against the home team?

We had a wonderful outing at the tournament and I believe the best team won. We created lot of scoring chances, scoring more than 20 goals and we did not concede any goals in open play just two from set pieces, one free kick and one a corner. Even though I think at the end we were a little lucky in the final, but I think the best team won.

SCORENIGERIA: What are some of the lessons you learnt from the WAFU Cup leading up to the World Cup in France?

We learnt a lot from this tournament – first of all,  the game is not over until the final whistle from the referee  and we had a good fighting spirit as a team and hope we can bring that fighting spirit to the Europe as well.

SCORENIGERIA: The expectations are high from Nigerians ahead of the World Cup even though you are drawn in a tough group that has the host team and one of the tournament favourites, France.

The only thing I can promise is that we will definitely put our heart in the competition , I promise everyone of us right from the technical staff to the players will really put in our best effort to first get out of our group from there the other teams will feel more pressure than the Super Falcons for us to quarterfinals and once we get there, anything can happen.
