Lobi Stars vice chairman Mike Idoko has told SCORENigeria he hopes his team make a quick return to continental football next year via the NPFL championship playoffs.
Lobi Stars second behind Enugu Rangers in Group A to reach the Super 6, where two teams will qualify to play in the CAF Champions League and one other team will advance to feature in the CAF Confederation Cup.
This year, they represented Nigeria in the Champions League, reaching the money-spinning group stage.
“Last year, we topped the league and this year we are second in our group. This is an indication of the consistency of the team,” Idoko told SCORENigeria
“We now hope to pick one of the tickets to the continent from the Super 6.”
Lobi Stars were unbeaten in the final eight matches of the regular season and in the course of the campaign head coach Solomon Ogbeide died.
Both Idoko and coach Evans Ogenyi mourned the departed coach.
“I am sad that Solomon Ogbeide was not there to see the team qualify,” said Ogenyi.
“I wept when the news of his death broke..
“He taught me the rudiments of the job.”
