Ahead of tonight’s UEFA Europa Conference League clash against Maccabi Tel-Aviv of Israel, Gent coach has admitted his star striker Gift Orban has hit a poor form, but this can only make him a stronger character.
Gent coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck said the problem has mainly been a mental one for the striker.
“This is not all that obvious: if you miss some opportunities, it sometimes gets into your head and it is also sometimes less important when playing football: bouncing, ball handling. Gift also feels that things are going a bit slower,” he told De Gazet van Antwerpen.
Vanhaezebrouck said that Orban also has difficulties scoring goals even in training.
“We also find it strange, but I also mentioned that last season: then everything worked and everything was great. Sometimes things just don’t work out and Gift is just in such a moment, but that can also make him stronger, once he finds his way to the goal again.”
