The country’s players’ union has petitioned anti-graft agency ICPC as well as the Serious Fraud Office in the UK over what it alleged was dubious sale of the commercial rights of the Nigeria professional league.
“The National Association of Nigeria Footballers ( NANF) as co-owners of the NPFL commercial rights has dragged the chairman of the League Management Company (LMC) and 2nd Vice President of the NFF, Shehu Dikko; the NFF President Amaju Pinnick; Next Digital Broadcasting and Redstrike Marketing Agency based in the United Kingdom to the Serious Fraud Office in London and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC),” according to a statement signed by president Harrison Jalla today.
“It would be recalled that same NPFL commercial rights generated by the activities of professional footballers in Nigeria, which NANF is a co-owner, was dubiously sold to two different companies on the 5th of November 2019 and 1st of September 2020 and the proceeds from signature fee and negotiation guarantee diverted to private pockets.”
