Victor Osimhen is now the 10th ranked player in the Super Eagles all-time leading scorers after his four goals against Sao Tome and Principe.
The Napoli striker has now scored 15 goals in 22 appearances for Nigeria.
He is also only the third Nigeria star to score four goals in an international game after Rashidi Yekini (vs Burkina Faso in 1991) and Onyeali (vs Dahomey in 1959).
Osimhen could even have helped himself to five goals by scoring from the penalty spot as the team’s official penalty taker, but he passed on the chance for Emmanuel Dennis to score his first goal for Nigeria.
At only 23, Osimhen is widely tipped to break Yekini’s all-time record of 37 goals and do so in record time.
The Eagles Top 10 leading scorers boasts the likes of Segun Odegbemi, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Obafemi Martins.
