The Golden Eaglets today took a big step towards qualifying for the 2023 U17 AFCON in Algeria after they stopped Togo 3-1 to reach the semifinal of the qualifying tournament in Ghana.
Nigeria have thus won Group A after they also won their opening group game against hosts Ghana.
Victory in the semifinal will earn the Eaglets a ticket to Algeria 2023.
Lanky striker Kevwe Iyede opened scoring for Nigeria in the 13th minute, when he tapped home a ball by skipper Precious Williams.
Williams will then double the advantage on 23 minutes, when he got to the end of a through ball by Ebube Okere.
The HB Academy star has now scored two goals, same as teammate Iyede.
Togo deservedly pulled a goal back through a superb free kick goal in the 75th minute, before substitute Light Eke made the game safe for Nigeria with a third goal on 82 minutes.
Defender Emmanuel Michael from Simoben Academy was picked for the second time as the Man of the Match.
