Victor Osimhen scored his seventh goal in five matches but it was not enough as his Napoli fell 3-2 at home to Spartak Moscow tonight.
He has now netted three goals in the Europa League.
Spartak, who paraded former Super Eagles star Victor Moses, were racing to a comfortable 3-1 when before Osimhen popped up again in stoppage time to score and give his team hope of another remarkable comeback.
However, the comeback was not to be as the Russian club held on to run away 3-2 winners.
They now have three points to climb to second in the group.
Legia Warsaw consolidated top spot after they pipped Leicester City 1-0 in Poland.
They have six points from two matches.
The group winners will qualify to the knockout rounds of the Europa League, while the runners-up will take on the third-placed team in the Champions League to progress to the next stage of the competition.
