Mukairu, 20, will soon join the Belgian giants and he told the official website of his new club that Napoli striker Osimhen, Liverpool and African Player of the Year Sadio Mane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry are the players who have inspired him both on and off the pitch.
The striker has been offered a chance to impress in Belgium on loan from Turkish club Antalyaspor for Anderlecht to give him a permanent deal at the end of the season.
Two seasons ago, Osimhen made the most of his loan spell at another Belgian club Sporting Charleroi to launch himself to the big time, first with Ligue 1 club Lille and now with Napoli in Serie A.
He will wear the No 12 shirt at Anderlecht, just as he has done at Antalyaspor, in tribute to another of his heroes, Henry.
“Other players inspire me both as a player and as a person. I think of Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus), Sadio Mane (Liverpool) and Victor Osimhen (Napoli),” he offered.
Keshi was the first Nigerian at Anderlecht and Mukairu recalled his exploits.
“I didn’t know him personally, but he seemed like a nice person. He was successful with Anderlecht and won the CAF Africa Cup of Nations twice, once as a player and once as a coach,” he remarked.
