Victor Osimhen has played down fears his injury is so serious that he will miss 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho next month.

However, the Lille striker will undergo more scans on the groin injury to determine the extent of the problem.

Osimhen described the injury on social media as “minor” and sources close to him also said he will be available to lead the Super Eagles strike force next month.

He will most likely miss this weekend’s Ligue 1 clash against Olympique Marseille as well as a UEFA Champions League return clash at Valencia early next week.

Initial diagnosis said he should be back in action against Metz before the international break kicks in.

The striker, who has netted seven goals and provided two assists in Ligue 1 this season, was forced out in the 2-0 win over Bordeaux at the weekend.
