Montreal Impact forward Orji Okwonkwo and midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru from Premier League club Watford have arrived to boost Nigeria U23s ahead of their departure to Egypt Thursday.
Okwonkwo has enjoyed a great season in the Major League Soccer (MLS) this year on loan from Serie A club Montreal Impact.
Dele-Bashiru featured for the Flying Eagles at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland in the summer.
The 20-year-old midfielder scored Nigeria’s third goal as the Flying Eagles thrashed Qatar 4-0 in their opening game of the FIFA U20 World Cup.
Last week, Kelechi Nwakali, who captained the Golden Eaglets to World Cup glory in Chile four years ago, rejoined the squad that he helped secure victories over Libya and Sudan in the qualifiers to earn Nigeria a berth at the finals in Egypt.
The U23s are expected to the leave the country Thursday for the tournament, which will be played between November 8– 22 in Cairo.
Nigeria will play in Group B, which also has Cote d’Ivoire, Zambia and South Africa.
