Barcelona star Asisat Oshoala will play no part in the 2022 WAFCON in Morocco after she suffered a ligament strain, the Super Falcons have disclosed.
According to an official statement, Oshoala suffered a grade 2 medial callateral ligament strain during Monday’s opening Group C match against South Africa, which the Super Falcons lost 2-1.
She will now leave Rabat, Morocco, Thursday back to her base in Spain for further medical treatment.
The absence of the striker, who has been named CAF Player of the Year four times, is a major blow to the Super Falcons chances of winning a record-extending 10th WAFCON.
