Super Falcons and FC Barcelona Femeni star Asisat Oshoala has been nominated by the organisers of the Ballon d’or for its humanitarian award, the Socrates Award.
Oshoala is in the running for this award courtesy of her Oshoala Academy, which offers the young female players quality football training as well as life skills.
The other nominees are USA women’s star Alex Morgan as well as Marcus Rashford, Antonio Rudiger and Vinicius Junior.
The award is named after Brazil 1982 World Cup captain Socrates, who was also a practicing medical doctor when he lived.
