Box-to-box midfielder Frank Onyeka has made a big case for himself in the Super Eagles starting XI after he scored one of the goals for Danish club FC Midtjylland to reach the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Onyeka hit target in the 88th minute to make it 3-1 for Midtjylland after fellow Nigeria star Peter Olayinka had given visiting Slavia Prague to lead as early as the third minute.
He has been one of the most consistent performers from Nigeria in Europe in the past three seasons so much so that Midtjylland have placed a 10 million Euros price tage on him and he has now been rewarded with his first Eagles call-up.
Onyeka, 24, will now fancy his chances of playing a big role in this month’s friendlies against Algeria and Tunisia in the absence of injured Wilfred Ndidi.
His main rival would be Oghenekaro Etebo, who plays as a defensive midfielder at Turkish giants Galatasaray.
