Two-goal hero Raphael Onyedika has vowed that his team Club Brugge will continue to battle their way to be crowned champions of Belgium.
Onyedika scored twice to lead Club Brugge to a massive 3-1 home win over front runners Anderlecht Sunday night.
Club Brugge are now third in the standings after two rounds of matches on 30 points, five points behind leaders Union St.Gilloise and second-placed Anderlecht.
There are eight rounds of matches left to be played to determine the champions of Belgium.
“As long as it is possible, we must continue to believe (we can be champions). It is five points (between us and the top two teams),” said Onyedika.
“We still have eight games to play, so why should we give up?
“If we keep pushing, you never know.
“I’m just happy that we were able to give the fans a victory. I really feel amazing.”
Meanwhile, Onyedika as well as Club Brugge teammate Antonio Nusa, whose father is Nigerian, have been named on the Voetbalkrant Team of the Week of the Belgian Championship Playoffs.
Defensive midfielder Onyedika scored a brace and Nusa proved to be a handful for the Anderlecht defence as Club Brugge ran away 3-1 winners at home in the playoffs.
Onyedika’s performance was described as flawless.
