Paul Onuachu has said he is excited with his combination upfront with Cyriel Dessers at Genk, saying they could prove to be a handful for opposing defences.
Onuachu has already won a handful of caps with the Super Eagles and Dessers is poised to make his Nigeria debut before long.
Both strikers scored on the opening day of the season for Genk to win at Zulte Waregem.
“We only trained together once”, Onuachu revealed about their partnership.
“It was a bit different from last year, when I was all alone up front a lot.
“It went well (vs Zulte Waregem), but it’s up to the coach to pick the team.
“I’m not 100% yet, but coming in, scoring and winning gives a positive feeling.”
Dessers said he and the giant Onuachu will be unstoppable this season.
“Other teams will have to be good to stop us together,” he maintained.
“We both got a goal and the three points.
“This was a good start, although we also realise that it is only the beginning.
“It must be even better, even stronger.”
The 25-year-old striker also said Onuachu compliments him.
“We are complementary and can play together,” he said
“He is so strong and sure when the opposition is already tired … We can certainly help each other.”
