Paul Onuachu, who has now tested negative for Coronavirus, has returned to action after he led the KRC Genk attack in a pre-season friendly against Excelsior, while teammate Cyriel Dessers scored his first goal for the Belgian club.
Onuachu played the first half for Genk as they led 2-0 with compatriot Stephen Odey also playing in the midfield.
Dessers, who will battle Onuachu for the top striker’s shirt in the new season, led the Genk attack after the break and got his first goal for his new club to wrap up the win against the Dutch club 4-1.
The former Heracles striker, who cost Genk four million Euros, was disappointed when he did not score on his debut against Union, which his club won 3-1.
“I am not satisfied with my match, no”, he said after that game.
“But maybe I am too hard on myself. I put a lot of pressure on myself to do well here.
“I am therefore happy and proud to finally be able to wear the shirt of my favorite club.”
He further said his first days at his hometown club have been positive.
“I see this as a step up from Heracles and I digest it well for now. My first weeks in Genk leave me feeling positive. I ended up in a nice group with many good players. Bongonda and Ito have really surprised me at training, ” he said.
