The push by Mikel Obi and Anthony Nwakaeme to be champions of Turkey this season with Trabzonspor has been slowed down by compatriot Olanrewaju Kayode after he salvaged a draw for Gaziantep FK today.
He is on loan till season’s end from Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk, but the Turkish club have an option to by him on a permanent basis.
Title chasers Trabzonspor were cruising to a road win after they went in front after 22 minutes only for Kayode to head home an equaliser for the home team early in the second half.
It was the striker’s ninth league goal of the campaign.
Nwakaeme played the entire game, while Mikel was replaced seven minutes from time after he was booked in the first half.
Trabzonspor are now three points behind leaders Istanbul Basaksehir, while Gaziantep are ninth on the table with 32 points.
