Belgian club Cercle Brugge have announced that Kazeem Olaigbe has taken “new, beautiful step in his career” with a transfer to French Ligue 1 club Rennes.
Rennes paid Six Million Euros for the 21-year-old left winger, who has signed a contract in France until mid-2029.
In Ligue 1, Stade Rennes are 15th place, one place just above the relegation zone.
Cercle Brugge technical director Rembert Vromant said they are pleased with the player’s switch.
“We are of course sorry that Kazeem is leaving us, but we are also very proud that another one of our players is going to a G5 competition,” he disclosed.
“There has been a lot of concrete interest in Kazeem since last summer, but at that time both parties chose to continue working together on his development.
“We want to thank Kazeem for his dedication and eternal smile, and we wish him the best for this new, beautiful step in his career.”
Cercle Brugge signed Olaigbe in the summer of 2023.
He scored 12 goals and made an assist in 60 appearances.
