A highly-ranked official has tore into the Super Eagles after it emerged that they stayed away from training today in Rabat, Morocco, so as to press for the payment of bonuses running over two years.
The players are demanding for bonuses for 2025 AFCON qualifiers as well as 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
They have only been paid appearance fee of $1,000-a-man for these matches.
“The players are cowards. Why did it take them two years before they will ask for their monies?” a furious official asked rhetorically
“There is no way Nigerians will side with them on this particularly at a time they are enjoying total support to qualify for the World Cup via the Playoffs.
“Instead of using their various social media platforms to demand for their rights, they prefer to post trivial things and nonsence.
“They only have themselves to blame for the drama that is now being played out in Morocco.”
Three senior members of the Super Eagles have spearheaded the mutiny in Morocco.
The Super Eagles are billed to tackle Gabon Thursday in a 2026 World Cup Playoffs with the winners up against the winners of the other Playoffs between DR Congo and Cameroon to determine Africa’s representatives at the Intercontinental Playoffs in March.
