SCORENigeria can report that Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for next year’s World Cup have suffered a major body blow after the Super Eagles refused to train today so as to protest over unpaid bonuses running over two years.
A top source informed SCORENigeria that the players informed coach Eric Chelle they will not train and will instead return to their foreign clubs tomorrow if they are not paid these bonuses.
The bonuses are for both the qualifying campaigns for the 2025 AFCON as well as the 2026 World Cup.
Training today was fixed for between 4-6pm local time with all 24 players expected to feature.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Gabon in a CAF World Cup Playoffs semifinal Thursday in Rabat and should they go ahead with their threats, Gabon will enjoy a walkover.
