A top official has pointedly accused Sports Minister John Enoh of putting pressure on the NFF to appoint his own candidate, Emmanuel Amuneke, as the new Super Eagles coach.
The NFF technical committee has named Enyimba coach Finidi George as the preferred choice for the Super Eagles coach after the Sports Minister had overruled it on the hiring of a foreign coach to lead the country’s team.
The Minister has also told the NFF the Government will not foot the salary of a foreign coach and as such they should look inwards for the man to take charge of the Super Eagles.
“The Minister clearly wants Amuneke to be the next coach of the Super Eagles,” an furious official told SCORENigeria
“He has even gone ahead to accuse the NFF of being biased because they did not consider Amuneke as the best man for the job.”
The NFF have before now enjoyed a cordial working relationship with the Minister and they do not wish to rock the boat.
“The NFF are now torn between going along with the choice of the Minister and sacrificing the man they believe will do a better job with the national team,” the official continued.
“They are even afraid not to offend the Minister because he represents the Government.”
“The appointment of a coach is the call of the NFF, but in the end they may lose that responsibility to the Minister,” the official further lamented.
Even you the writer is baise, tell me if Finidi is more qualified than Amunike, both In experience and performance, can you compare lifting under 17world cup to winning NFF corruption ridden premier league,or, the certificate side, Nigerians are watching, wickedness and personal gain is driving you people to always destroy what is supposed to be Joy for Nigerians, go ahead and name a local coach in finidi as against an international coach as Amunike,God will judge you people
I share your view.Amunike is too strong-willed for the money-eating NFF guys. I suspect also that Amuneke comes from a region they hate with passion.
Calm down brother.
Nigeria Football fans love Amuneke. Let NFF do what they like but the man’s time will come, let’s all be in support of Finidi George who’s also a Nigerian.
It’s only 2 years contract so there’s time.
Agreed. Amuneke is head and shoulder above Finidi who is coaching a Nigerian side for the fist time. Finidi should continue in his assistantship role while Amuneke should be the head coach as Sports minister rightly pointed out.
Barring all sentiments, Amuneke is the better and right choice for Super Eagles coach. The Minister got this right. NFF should retrace their steps, picking Finidi over Amuneke is clearly unprofessional and sentimental.
