Defender Chibuike Nwaiwu scored a brace and fellow Nigerian Paul Onuachu was also on target for Trabzonspor to beat bottom team Fatih Karagumruk tonight and come within striking distance of second-placed Fenerbache.
Onuachu opened scoring for the home team after 20 minutes with a header inside the box for his 18th goal of the season.
He has now scored for the seventh straight game in Turkey and he is the leading scorer of the Super Lig.
However, the show stealer tonight was Nwaiwu, whose two headed goals made the difference on the night.
He put Trabzonspor in front 2-1 two minutes after the restart before he scored again three minutes later courtesy of an Onuachu assist.
Third-placed Trabzonspor now have 48 points from 24 matches, four points behind Fenerbache, who have a game in hand.
