Super Eagles No 1 goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali did not make a widely expected transfer this summer because the offers he got were small and did not respect his standing.
Instead of a major transfer, Nwabali extended his contract with the PSL by a further three years.
Chippa United chairman Siviwe Chippa Mpengesi revealed that his club were in contact with fellow PSL clubs Kaizer Chiefs and Amazulu over Nwabali.
“It was never about the price, there were two clubs who were interested,” he said.
“One of them was Amazulu, but they were offering peanuts.
“They wanted us to give them Nwabali for that amount, that was disrespect.
“There were talks we had with Kaizer Chiefs towards the end of the season, but we saw them signing another goalkeeper.”
He continued: “For Kaizer Chiefs, we were going to give them (Nwabali), and the price was not even high.
“We were more looking at the interest of the player, you know, he was going to play for a big club.”
