Lobi Stars have regained leadership of the NPFL after they turned back visiting Wikki Tourists just as relegation battlers Adamawa United and Jigawa Golden Stars are not giving up just yet in their fight for survival.
Lobi Stars climbed back to the top of the standings on 35 points courtesy of a 2-1 home win over Wikki Tourists.
Plateau United slipped to second after they held hosts Dakkada FC to a scoreless draw.
They now have 33 points from 19 matches and Dakkada dropped to fifth on 29 points.
Rivers United stayed in third position on 32 points after they pipped Kwara United 1-0 in Port Harcourt.
Ivorian Konan Ruffin N’Gouan tucked away a penalty after 67 minutes to give ‘The Pride of Rivers’ maximum points.
Sunshine Stars are now fourth after a 2-0 win over FC Ifeanyiubah in Akure with goals by Jide Fatokun and Anthony Omaka.
It has also been interesting at the other end of the table after bottom team Adamawa United recorded a rare win with a 1-0 victory over Heartland.
They now have 17 points to leave bottom place, which is now occupied by Nasarawa United after they fell 1-0 at fellow strugglers Jigawa.
Both MFM and Katsina United improved their standings on the table after home wins over Kano Pillars and Warri Wolves, respectively.
Katsina United are now seventh on the table with 27 points, while MFM FC are eighth with 26 points.
