The two other teams to be relegated from the NPFL will now only be decided on the final day of the season with as many as five clubs all in danger of going down to the lower league.
Abia Warriors today secured their status in the NPFL on the back of a 2-0 home win over fellow strugglers Akwa United, who have now dropped to 116th in the standings with 46 points from 37 matches and a 0 goals difference.
Doma United, Sporting Lagos, Akwa United, Bayelsa United and Sunshine Stars therefore have everything to play for on the final day of action in the Nigerian top flight.
Doma United must win a rescheduled game Wednesday against Sunshine Stars and also their final game versus Abia Warriors to have any chance of staying up.
However, they have a rather unhealthy -15 goals difference.
Sporting Lagos are the other team in the drop zone with 46 points, same as Akwa United, who play at home in their final match of the campaign.
Bayelsa United are 15th on 47 points, Sunshine Stars 14th with 49 points as both teams will be on the road on the final day.
Bottom team Gombe United and Heartland have already been demoted to the second-tier NNL.
