Former Flying Eagles star Okon fired a 25-yard shot on the half hour that proved to be the winning goal against visiting Kano Pillars and lift Rivers United back to the summit of the NPFL.
It was his second goal of the season.
Last season, the 25-year-old attacking midfielder netted four goals for Remo Stars in the NPFL.
Rivers United are now three points clear of Remo Stars after 15 rounds of matches as the title race this season promises to be a very tight one.
