CAF Goalkeeper of the Year Chiamaka Nnadozie has said she hopes to return to Paris, where she plays her club football, with the Super Falcons for this year’s Olympics.
Since 2020, Nnadozie has played for Paris FC.
Today in Douala, from 6pm, the Super Falcons will do battle against home team Cameroon with the return leg in Abuja Monday in a crucial round of the qualifying tournament for Paris 2024.
Nnadozie said the Super Falcons are confident going into this tough clash.
“The matches against Cameroon will be pretty difficult,” said Nnadozie in an interview with FIFA.com
“They’ve got a really good side that’s full of experienced players. We’ll need to be wary, but I’ve got a lot of confidence in my team.”
Nigeria stopped Cameroon 1-0 in the 2022 WAFCON quarterfinal to qualify for the 2023 World Cup.
“That win was great, but we shouldn’t pay too much attention to our previous results against them,” remarked the 23-year-old goalkeeper.
“We’ll have to stay focused, train more intensely, work harder and stick together. If we do all that, we’ll beat them, I suspect.”
American coach Randy Waldrum will lead the team today after he signed a new contract after his initial deal expired in October.
