It has been revealed that a Nigerian, Justice Roli Diabo Harriman, was the chairman of the CAF Appeal Board that took the decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 AFCON crown and give it to Morocco.
Justice Harriman headed a nine-person board drawn from several other African countries.
The board relied on Article 84 of the regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to declare that Senegal forfeited the final match against hosts Morocco after they walked off the pitch.
The result of the final match has now been recorded as 3-0 in favour of Morocco, who are now to be known as the 2025 AFCON champions.
It is now left to be seen whether Senegal will challenge at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) the powers of the appeal board to overturn the on-field decision of a referee.
