Nigeria today beat their Tanzanian counterparts 2-0 in an U23 AFCON qualifier in Ibadan to go through to a final playoff 3-1 on aggregate.
But the U23s led by coach Salisu Yusuf had to labour for victory at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan to book their passage to the next round of the qualifying series.
Latvia-based winger Abiodun Oguniyi aka OmoJesu opened the scoring in the 59th minute, when his free kick beat the Tanzanian goalkeeper.
He will then be brought down inside the box after a mazy dribble run and the resulting penalty was tucked away by captain Success Makanjuola in the 67th minute.
The victory has qualified Nigeria to a final playoff for a place at the U23 AFCON in Morocco next year.
The U23 AFCON will also serve as qualifying tournament for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
