The NFF have announced that a final 23-man Super Eagles squad for a friendly later this month against Portugal will be made public after this weekend games across Europe.
NFF general secretary Mohammed Sanusi made this known amid various speculative squads making the rounds on social media.
“We have a friendly match against Portugal coming up in Lisbon on Thursday, 17th November. Mr. Peseiro has compiled a provisional list and is only waiting for this weekend’s matches to submit his list of 23 players,” Sanusi said.
The Eagles coach has worked with a large provisional squad and will in the new week name a much smaller one for the match against his native country.
Torino defender Ola Aina and Jamilu Collins from Cardiff City are ruled out due to injury, while FC Porto defender Zaidu Sanusi is a major doubt after he suffered a groin injury in a UEFA Champions League tie this week.
But skipper Ahmed Musa should be available for the clash after he returned to action following an arm fracture that required surgery.
Victor Osimhen and Leon Balogun, who missed the team’s friendlies in Algeria in September, will be recalled to test the readiness of one-time European champions Portugal for the World Cup in Qatar.
Will Peseiro overlook Paul Onuachu, who is again rattling in the goals in Belgium?
Onuachu has now netted 12 goals in as many matches after he fired four goals Friday night for Genk to move clear at the top of the Belgian Jupiler league.
