The NFF led by president Amaju Pinnick and Sports Minister Sunday Dare today met in Abuja to put the final seal on the dismissal of Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.
The closed door meeting attended by other top officials of the NFF and sports ministry agreed Rohr has overstayed his welcome and he should be relieved of his post.
Rohr himself has been holding out that he could still be the man to lead Nigeria to the AFCON even after he was “verbally” sacked recently.
A formal announcement on Rohr’s future will only be made after he has been paid all the monies owed which include four months’ salaries as well as bonus for qualifying the country to the 2021 AFCON.
The NFF are now expected to get back to the ministry with their plans in the absence of the 68-year-old Franco-German coach.
The meeting strategized how they could get the Federal Government to release funds for the AFCON, which kicks off on January 9, 2022, in Cameroon.
