Former Flying Eagles striker Jerome Akor has finally got his wish to play in the Norwegian top league after he completed a transfer to Lillestrom.
Akor, 21, has played all his football in the last three years at Sogndal in the Norwegian second division.
On Wednesday, Sogndal with the striker playing all 90 minutes were eliminated by KFUM 1-0 in the promotion playoffs.
Lillestrom have now announced Akor has signed a three-year deal as a free agent after his contract with Sogndal ran out.
The contract is effective from January 1, 2022.
“Akor is a very talented player who can play several roles in the attack, but he is still developing. He will have time to be great in Lillestrøm,” said Lillestrom sports director Simon Mesfin.
Akor is very much looking forward to feature for his new club, while also appreciating his time at Sogndal.
“I am proud to get the opportunity in Lillestrøm,” he said.
“I have seen the team a lot this year, and I think I will fit well into the system.
“Igoh (Ogbu) has also said a lot of good things about the club.
“I also look forward to meeting the supporters. They should know that I will always do my best to help the club.
“I have to thank Sogndal for coming here I am today. Eirik Bakke and Håvard Flo gave me the opportunity, and helped me develop both as a player and as a person.
“The three years in Sogndal have meant everything to me.
“I am proud to have played for Sogndal, the club will always be like a home for me.”
Only recently Akor told SCORENigeria he hopes he will soon play in the top league in Norway.
He scored 10 goals this past season for Sogndal.
