Jeremy Agbonifo, 17, has quit Portuguese giants FC Porto to join Italian club Lecce after he rejected an offer from mighty Barcelona.
According to Fotbolltransfers.com, Agbonifo had a concrete contract offer from Barcelona to decide on, but he chose Lecce because the step to the first team will most likely be a lot closer.
Celta Vigo, Bologna and a few more clubs also showed serious interest in Agbonifo - who also snubbed an extension with Porto.
In November 2021, Agbonifo, who was born in Sweden, left Swedish club BK Häcken to become a youth professional at Porto.
Lecce have now presented the exciting winger on a contract till 2025 with an option for another two years.
The 17-year-old will start with the Lecce Primavera, who were Primavera champions last season and are considered an outstanding academy in Italy.
