Napoli have quickly reacted to media reports that there is now tension between them and star striker Victor Osimhen over a new contract.
Il Mattino has reported that both Osimhen and his agent are furious with comments attributed to Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis that he is disappointed the player’s camp has reneged on a gentleman’s agreement to sign a new contract.
However, Napoli have denied this in an official statement.
“President de Laurentiis never shared any negative comment about Victor,” stated the club.
“He just said that after verbally agreeing on plan to sign new deal, Osimhen changed his mind.
“We hope it’s just stand-by moment to think about it. In the next weeks we will discuss with his agent Calenda about the future.
“Reports of tense situation between Napoli and Osimhen are 100% wide of mark”.
