Former Flying Eagles midfielder Obinna Nwobodo is the highest earning Nigeria star in the Major Soccer League (MLS).
This is according to the MLS Players Association, which recently released the salaries of all players registered in the MLS.
Former Enugu Rangers star Nwobodo, who features for FC Cincinnati, is on a basic salary of $1, 155,000 a year.
His guaranteed compensation is $1,289, 400.
His stints in Hungary and Turkey will be why he is far and away the highest paid Nigeria star in the MLS.
Sunusi Ibrahim, Chinonso Offor (Montreal Impact) and Ben Agada (Sporting Kansas City) are on the minimum pay of $200,000 plus.
The guaranteed compensation of these players are as follows – Offor ($257,825), Sunusi ($291, 250) and Agada ($277,875).
Recently signed Ibrahim Aliyu ‘Bravo’ of Houston Dynamo was not captured in this listing.
Xherdan Shaqiri (Chicago Fire) is the highest paid player in the MLS with a guaranteed annual salary of $8.15.
Former Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne (Toronto FC) pockets $7.5 Million, while Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez (LA Galaxy) is on $7.44 Million.
