The NFF have announced there will be a major re-organisation of both the coaching crew as well as the Super Falcons ahead of next year’s Women’s AFCON playoff against rampant Cote d’Ivoire.
The Falcons barely managed to advance to the playoffs after they lost to Ghana 1-0 in Accra after they beat their arch-rivals 2-0 in the first leg in Lagos a week earlier.
“There are deficiencies that we must deal with squarely and without any ambiguity in order that the team will be ready for the challenges ahead,” said NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi in a statement.
“The Super Falcons can, and should, exhibit far greater marksmanship. We have the players at home and abroad to outrun and outplay any team on the African continent, and even compete favourably on the world stage.
“That is why we have to make the move to reinvigorate the team ahead of the final round of qualifiers against Cote d’Ivoire. The rejuvenation is with an objective for better focus, commitment and productivity.”
The Ivorians eliminated Nigeria from the Tokyo Olympics qualifiers.
They trounced Niger 9-0 in the first leg of the AFCON clash.
