Abdussalam Magashy has said he is delighted to sign for top Swedish club AIK Solna.
Magashy, 24, signed a four-year contract as a free agent after he ran out his contract at another Allsvenskan side, IFK Varnamo.
“I feel so happy to be part of this great club with the best supporters in Sweden. It’s a dream for me to play in a big club like AIK and I can’t wait to start next season,” said Magashy.
He will join his new club for pre-season training in January.
The Kano-born midfielder is now the sixth Nigerian player after Samuel Ayorinde (2002-03) , Kennedy Igboananike (2013-14), Dickson Etuhu (2015-16), John Chibuike (2016) and Chinedu Obasi (2016, 2017 and 2019) to join AIK.
It has been a remarkable journey in Sweden for Magashy after he first joined Vaxjo United in the fourth-tier league in 2018.
That same year he signed for Kristianstad FC, who are two divisions above Vaxjo.
In the winter of the 2019/2020 season, he signed a two-year contract with IFK Varnamo and helped to go all the way to the top league.
