Belgian club KV Oostende look set to give veteran striker Joseph Akpala a contract extension after he impressed their new coach in training.
Former Super Eagles striker Akpala, 33, is out of a contract.
KVO initially gave him a one week extension so that he could continue to train with the team.
However, new coach Alexander Blessin was impressed with the much-travelled striker in training and now the club could give him a new deal.
SCORENigeria has reported that Akpala recently turned down a chance to work as a scout or youth coach at former team Club Brugge, insisting he still has goals in his boots.
He also said he believes his experience will come in handy for the new team KVO are assembling.
Akpala has previously featured in Germany, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
