Former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu has been appointed new chairman of Nigeria league champions Enyimba, while former Flying Eagles coach Sam Obuh will lead another NPL side Abia Warriors.
The appointments were announced by the newly elected Abia State Government headed by Governor Alex Otti.
Kanu has taken over from Felix Anyansi-Agwu, who headed ‘The People’s Elephant’ for 24 years during which the club won most of their major trophies including two CAF Champions League winners’ medals.
His Super Eagles teammate Finidi George recently led Enyimba to a record ninth league conquest, which qualifies the team to represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League again.
Obuh, a former striker and who has recently been involved with the AS Roma Academy in Abuja has replaced Emeka Inyama as the chairman of Abia Warriors.
