Alex Iwobi has revealed a player was injured when angry fans attacked the Super Eagles team bus after they surrendered a four-goal lead against Sierra Leone.
The forward also said he hopes for a special season with his Premier League club Everton.
Iwobi said a teammate was hurt when the fans attacked the national team following a 4-4 draw with Sierra Leone in November.
“Trying to go back to the hotel, people were throwing stones at our bus,” he recalled in an interview published by Everton.
“One cracked a window and hit a player. It was crazy.
“They are proper passionate.
“I see where they were coming from, the result was hurtful.
“But we were almost physically hurt because of it!”
Iwobi also said he hopes to win trophies with his club.
“I want to win trophies with Everton and be heavily involved in that achievement,” he said.
“We are very ambitious and trying to make this a special season.”
