Super Eagles will be without experienced defender Semi Ajayi for next month’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa after he suffered a hamstring injury that will keep him out for between four and six weeks.
Ajayi returned to the Super Eagles for the high-profile friendly against Russia in Moscow in June after two separate hamstring injuries limited him to only 15 matches for West Brom last season.
He shone for new club Hull City in a season opener against Coventry City.
However, the player complained of discomfort after the Coventry game and scans later showed that he hurt his hamstring and could now be out for between four and six weeks.
