Genk striker Ike Ugbo has said his top target now is to play for the Super Eagles at next year’s World Cup in Qatar.
Ugbo, 23, was born in London and he is therefore eligible to play for England having already represented the country at U17 and U20 levels.
However, the former Chelsea striker has now applied to FIFA to change his international allegiance to Nigeria.
He said his decision was based on his wish to make a name for himself in a top competition and also his father’s love for the Super Eagles.
“There are big competitions coming up and I want to make my name,” opened up Ugbo, who is the cover for Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu at Genk.
“Who knows I could end up at the World Cup next year.”
