Nigeria have recalled Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho for next month’s friendly against Ukraine after he was axed from the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt for lack of playing time at his Premier League club.
Ukraine will host the Super Eagles in a first-ever friendly on September 10 with coach Gernot Rohr sticking with the core of the squad who placed third at the Nations Cup in Egypt.
The formidable squad includes five other England-based players – Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun, Semi Ajayi and Oghenekaro Etebo.
However, the coach has also recalled Benfica defender Tyronne Ebuehi, who has recovered from a long-term injury, and he has also called up uncapped striker Joe Aribo from Scottish club Rangers as well as young goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, who features for German club Fortuna Dusseldorf.
