Anti-graft agency ICPC has stepped up a “wide-ranging” corruption investigation of top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by president Amaju Pinnick and 2nd vice president Shehu Dikko after they sealed off their properties today.
Pinnick’s palatial mansion in Park View Estate in Lagos and the home of Dikko in Abuja have been sealed off as part of this probe.
“It is true that ICPC sealed Shehu Dikko’s Maitama residence this morning (Friday),” disclosed ICPC spokesperson Rasheedat Okoduwa.
“He is being investigated with others over fresh corruption charges.
“It has nothing to do with the cases of SPIP or EFCC.”
ICPC also announced their action on their Twitter handle.
A bold inscription and written in red announced: ‘Keep off. Under investigation ICPC’ was displayed on the duplex located at River Benue Street in Maitama, Abuja.
The same was done at the Lagos mansion of Pinnick, which has hosted top dignitaries including CAF president Ahmad Ahmad.
A source close to Pinnick described the property at the highbrow Park View Estate complete with a swimming pool as the “pride and joy” of the football chieftain.
This order denies access to anyone including the occupants of the house until investigations, which officials described as “wide-ranging”, have been concluded.
The leadership of the NFF led by Amaju Pinnick is being variously investigated by the country’s three anti-corruption agencies – EFCC, ICPC and SPIP.
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has already ordered the arrest of the top NFF chieftains for alleged corruption and the case again comes up for hearing on September 26, 2019.
The officials have continued to deny any wrongdoing, claiming they are only being victimised.
The Commission has also placed a mansion in Maitama, Abuja, belonging to Shehu Dikko, 2nd Vice President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Chairman of League Management Company of Nigeria, under investigation.#DoTheRightThing #IntegrityPays pic.twitter.com/aBqzWOxogJ
