SCORENigeria checks have revealed that a Super Eagles provisional squad for next month’s 2025 AFCON is being compiled even without a coach in place.
It has been gathered that a top team official has been making contacts to reach out to possible players for this provisional squad.
It was alleged that this was also the case before Finidi George was appointed as Super Eagles coach in May.
This has fueled speculations of direct administrative interferences in Super Eagles selection.
The NFF are yet to announce a new coach for the Super Eagles less than a month to the start of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The first round of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers will be played during the international break of September 2 and 10.
The Super Eagles will host Benin in Uyo in their opening Group D qualifier before they travel to Rwanda for their second game within a week.
Both teams are also in the same 2026 World Cup qualifying group with Nigeria.
