The Flying Eagles have been on top in the first 45 minutes of this 2025 U20 AFCON semifinal against South Africa.
They have enjoyed more of the ball and their high pressing has unsettled the Amajitas from South Africa.
The Nigerians pushed forward and even had a corner come off the crossbar in the 17th minute and out of touch to the relief of their opponents.
Five minutes later, Clinton Jephta delivered a cross from the left, but it just missed the head of the lurking Kparobo Aierihi.
On the half hour, the lively Kparobo saw his effort crash against the side netting.
Against the run of play South Africa almost took the lead in the 33rd minute when a long, searching ball confused the Flying goalkeeper and his captain Daniel Bameyi, but somehow the result was a corner to the South Africans.
In the closing minutes, Tahir Maigana in his first start of this tournament conjured a curler from the flanks, but it missed the mark not by much..
