Guinea Bissau are now the new leaders of the Super Eagles qualifying group to the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
‘The Wild Dogs’ of Guinea Bissau pipped bottom team Sao Tome and Principe 1-0 to move to the top of Group A with 10 points from five matches.
However, the Eagles could reclaim top position with a win or draw when they battle Sierra Leone Sunday in Monrovia, Liberia.
They are currently second on nine points, but with a far superior goals difference than Guinea Bissau.
Sierra Leone are third with five points and must shock three-time African champions Nigeria to keep alive their slim hopes of qualifying for the tournament proper next year in Cote d’Ivoire.
Sao Tome are bottom on a single point after five rounds of matches.
The top two teams will advance to Cote d’Ivoire 2023.
